U.S. sports media ESPN reported on the 12th (Korea Standard Time) that Franco was caught in a dispute with another man after pulling out a firearm from an apartment parking lot in San Juan Dera Magana, about 116 miles (187 kilometers) west of Santo Domingo, the capital of the Dominican Republic.
Police are investigating Franco, another man and an unnamed woman, and have seized about two guns.
Franco, a Dominican Republic native who made his major league debut in 2021, signed a 12-year, mega contract with Tampa Bay in November of that year of up to $223 million (about 376.7 billion won).
However, in August last year, Franco was issued an "indefinite administrative leave" by the MLB Secretariat after he was found to have committed sex crimes against minors.
In July this year, his team Tampa Bay put Franco on the list of restricted players, and he will not be paid.
Franco, who is tried on charges of sexual exploitation and trafficking of minors, could face up to 20 years in prison.
